Digital Identity / Footprint
Take a look at your digital footprint/identity - what online services do you use? Google yourself.
The online services that I mostly use are probably the Google suite (Google Docs, Sheets and Slides, Gmail, etc.), music and video streaming (Spotify, YouTube, Netflix) and social media (Instagram and Snapchat).
When I Google myself I find a lot about Ellen Lamont, Ph.D an assistant professor at Appalachian State University where she teaches courses on Sociology of Gender, Sociology of Families, Sociology of Intimate Relationships
Women, Crime, and the Criminal Justice System.
If I Google "Ellen Lamont Brandon" I find an article on the Brandon School Division website on the
Concours d’art Oratoire where I was a judge in 2019.
I also found a neat article I had never seen on the Brandon University website that talks about my dad winning a Distinguished Teacher Award the year I graduated.
"Lamont teaches at Elton Collegiate in Forrest, Man. He earned Bachelor of Science (1989) and Bachelor of Education (1992) degrees at BU. Lamont shared the special day with his daughter, Ellen, who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts on Friday."I also found a Brandon Sun article about a concussion forum I spoke at in 2011 and my Grandpa's obituary from 2004.
I'm a little hard to find on the internet so I'm not sure what that means for my digital identity. I think if anything, my digital identity serves as a highlight reel. To protect my digital identity, I keep all social media accounts private and protected with a strong password. I think that my online identity on social media shows that I'm happy and active, I like to spend time with my friends and family and I like to travel. This is all true! I think I'm the same person on and offline.
Here is a poster I found on Common Sense Media that could be displayed in an early years or middle years classroom.
